How this blog came to be
Do you want to know more about the purpose or motives behind this blog? Let us start by telling you how we came to be and the reason for the name “Food is bae.” We met in the fall of 2012 during our freshmen year in college (shoutout to JBU). Daniel is from Honduras; Mari is from Nicaragua. We were the only ones in our scholarship class to choose a career path in the arts and having chosen both Graphic Design and Photography at a small college, it was natural that from day one we’d pretty much take every single class together. We have many things in common and it was impossible not to become good friends. Friends who later started calling each other “Dani Baby” and “Mari Baby” because why not? And being avid followers/consumers of pop culture, when “bae” became more popular our nicknames caught up and there we were: Dani Bae & Mari Bae. Do you see now why we chose this name? ;)
We both love food and we like to cook (although not always successfully) food that looks pretty enough to take pictures of it and also tastes delicious. We found a love for food photography as we explored different branches of the discipline. We graduated, we came back to our respective countries, we critique our work via WhatsApp and random phone calls throughout our day, and have kept in touch dreaming about what we could do. Here’s the answer to all of that. Food is bae is our joint collection of work. The pictures we like the best with the stories we care about the most shared with you!
